June / July Updates

Week 1 Lake Placid / June 24-28

We had a great first week up in the beautiful Adirondacks! We started the week off with some great equitation results. Mitchell Endicott was 3rd in the 3* USET talent search with Baccharanta as well as a 4th in the jumper phase and PHA Medal with Narcos. Mitch finished out his week with a 3rd in the Maclay aboard Skara Glen’s Prologue. Catty Stafford was 5th in the PHA and Maclay riding RF Typecast. In the hunters, Helen Voss’s horse Census was Champion in the large junior hunters with Ashton Alexander in the irons. Leylan Gleeson won the Ariat Adult Medal aboard Contano as well as being the winner of 2 of the over fences classes in the adult hunters. Katie Schell won a class in the 3’3″ juniors on Barradouz. Katherine Hall also had a great week on her horses. She finished 3rd in the THIS medal riding Prosecco 24. She also won a class in the children’s hunters on Crystal Clear. In the jumper ring, Paulina Johnson had a great showing aboard Wundine. She finished up 3rd in the Adult Classic! All and all it was a fabulous first week.

Week 2 Lake Placid / July 1-5

The second week of Lake Placid was a very successful one for all of our riders. The week began with good equitation results. Mitchell Endicott was 5th in the Washington jumper phase and 3rd in the Washington hunter phase on Narcos. In the Pessoa Medal, Katie Schell was 6th on Barradouz and Catty Stafford was 2nd on RF Typecast. Olivia Woodson riding Aran J took home a 5th place in the PHA medal. In the Taylor Harris Medal, Katherine Hall took home the blue aboard Narcos and Alexandra Smith finished in 3rd riding Vedette. In the jumpers, Olivia Woodson and Baccharanta finished 1st and 3rd and ended up reserve champion in the Children’s jumpers. Anna Koenig finished 3rd on her horse Super Trooper in the Children’s 15-17 jumper classic. Katherine Hall also got good ribbons on her two jumpers in the children’s jumpers. In the hunter rings, Katherine Hall was 1st and 3rd in the 3’3″ juniors riding Crystal Clear. Anna Koenig got 2nd and 3rd in the Children’s 15-17 on her horse Happy Days. Leylan Gleeson was champion in the adult hunters on Flyboy winning all but one class. She also earned multiple top ribbons in the adults on Contano.

Traverse City / July 1-5

While some of us were in Lake Placid the other half of our team was showing up in Traverse City. Helen Voss finished the week with a championship in the 3’3″ junior hunters on Friend Request. She was also 1st in the Maclay on Cash. Addie Piper was 2nd in the classic and reserve champion in the Low Junior Jumpers on Halbi D’abri.

Chagrin Valley Hunter Jumper Classic / July 8-12

After a successful two weeks up north we headed down to Cleveland for the Chagrin Valley Hunter a Jumper Classic. It was a great week full of riding, ribbons and lots of exhibitor hospitality. We started the week off with Alexandra Smith and Barrosi C winning the championship in the children’s hunter and Anna Koenig and Happy Days picking up the Reserve. Alexandra was also the Grand children’s hunter championship. Katie Schell started off our equitation success with a win in the THIS Medal riding Barradouz. In the USET our riders picked up the 1st-4th awards. In the Washington jumper phase our riders were 1st and 3rd and 3rd-6th in the Washington Hunter phase. In the Pessoa medal, our riders earned 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th. In the OPHA we brought home the 1st-4th awards. In the Maclay we finished with 2nd and 3rd place honors. Rounding out the equitation for the week was Leylan Gleeson winning the Ariat on Bami B. In jumper world we also cleaned up. Katherine Hall was 2nd in the classic and champion in the Children’s Jumpers on Cananbarras. Wundine and Paulina Johnson were the winners in the meter 30 speed. Baccharanta and Olivia Woodson won a class In the Low Junior Jumpers. Spencer Smith had a great showing on his mount Ecuador finishing 3rd in the welcome stake. While there were many other great wins throughout the week one of the highlights came Sunday in the National Hunter Derby. This class was won by Addie Piper riding Billy the Kid. She was followed up by Catty Stafford and RF Typecast finishing in second. Katherine Hall and Prosecco 24 were 5th and Leylan Gleeson and Bami B were 7th.
